A taskforce has been created to develop a process to ease the burden on CBHCs related to credentialing practitioners. As Ohio works toward an end goal of having one system (MITS) for CBHCs to update, there are several steps that will require providers to actively participate. To address the first step of the process, the Ohio Department of Medicaid hosted the CBHC Practitioner Enrollment File webinar on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.

The Ohio Department of Medicaid hosted a webinar for community behavioral health providers on Friday, January 5, 2018 on how to submit Medicaid claims using the MITS portal. This information may be especially helpful for agencies that need a bit more time to update their electronic billing systems to submit EDI transations using the new Medicaid behavioral health codes set and policies.

The Ohio Department of Medicaid, in collaboration with Mercer Consulting, held a webinar on June 29, 2018, to review American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) history and criteria, walk thorugh certain scenarios, discuss the utilization management process, and connect with the MCPs on their responsibility to review prior authorization requests.

American Society of Addition Medicine (ASAM) Appropriate Use of Drug Testing in Clinical Addiction Medicine webinar and consensus document
Upon completion of this free webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of the guidance needed around drug testing today.
  • Identify the fundamental components of drug testing in a clinical setting.
  • Summarize the document's recommendations and discuss how they should be used in practice.
  • Address common clinical questions around drug testing in a clinical setting.

The NEW ASAM consensus document allows providers, patients and their families, healthcare administrators, and payers determine clearly what is appropriate practice and what is considered outside the realm of appropriate practice in regard to drug testing in clinical addiction medicine

The July 31, 2017, IMD webinar highlights details around the policy update that, as of July 1, 2017, Ohio will allow Medicaid recipients age 21 through 64 who receive their Medicaid benefits through a managed care plan (MCP) to receive inpatient treatment in an IMD.

BH 401 Training

The Ohio Department of Medicaid and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services provided a comprehensive overview of the BH Redesign changes going into effect. The Behavioral Health Redesign 401 training occurred on May 22, 2017.
